Fluid simulation is one of my favorite research topics. Specifically, I am interested in two-way interaction among fluid, rigid-body and soft-body. Also handling curved boundary is a very interesting topic. I developed irregular mesh based hybrid simulation method for my master's degree. I am also looking into immersed boundary style approach. Meshless approaches such as SPH, MPS or MPM are interesting and many different approaches are actually getting combined to get over limitations these days. I did research on level-set and had a hand experience with Fast Marching Method and Fast Sweeping Method. Even with a help from particle level-set, fundamentally it has issues with volume loss and sharp edges. Since many people are using hybrid method such as FLIP, level-set seems to lose its fame. But it is still useful for extrapolation for interface or distance map based collision detection.
